Can someone remind me...
Why it is a bad idea that RWA define what romance is and in turn what 'morals' are right or wrong? I seem to think it had to do with no one person could be expected to have the right to decide what romance was to everyone. And that each person had the right to decide how to live or what they believed in. Morals are subjective, what one person thinks is right another might think is wrong. Weren't we (authors, readers and such) upset they (RWA, TTQ and whoever) felt they had the right to be judge and jury over romance, romantica, erotica romance and/erotica? Didn't we think they were being judgmental? And they should be more open minded and allow each person to decide for themself what was good or bad? Or did I misunderstand? |
gee, what brought this on?

JaynieR just discovered the loop where those two people are having an affair. *g*
And she wasn't happy, along with most of the other 40 plus commentators... It's a riot.

I'm with Angie--what brought this on, and why doesn't anyone tell us who's on that writer's loop? Inquiring minds want to know.

yes karen is right, I have no link since I am not on my computer and in dial up hell...
and karen is also right it is an interesting topic well what I saw of it friday or saturday
And I am in no way bashing JaynieR or anyones thoughts on the subject, and planned to post more on it but uh crash thing and I am too tied up I doubt I will get back to it. I just thought it was a touch ironic that many of the same people who were upset about the RWA thing, which would be regarding fiction, were wanting to only read people who agree with their morals.
But then I thought maybe I was understanding wrong. Since my memory is shit. And to be honest, I do it. As with the RWA thing and other authors who have spoken out regarding what they thing should or shouldn't be 'allowed' in romance. I tend to not buy them... uh ever.
As well as I have a couple of hot buttons, but at the same time I wonder if that is right.
I mean do we buy the author or the book? Do we buy the actor or the movie? My mom, whose dial up is bring you this post ;), won't watch Brad Pitt now. And I think that is way dumb. But who knows.
Sorry Tara, no idea.
Karen, read any books from them yet?
