    It begs to question....
Are the majority of ebook READERS also WRITERS?

Or are most just quiet and nicole and I loud mouths? I am not picking on the authors at all, I am just surprised but I guess not shocked that there aren't more plain ol readers.

    1. I'd say that an awful lot of ebook writers (especially at EC) started out reading the books. I know at least 5 people who started out as readers, and ended up writing for their fave ebook publishers.

    2. There are still a lot of "just" readers out there. I can think of quite a few who blog, actually. I'm not a writer, but I guess I don't qualify as a reader either.

So no, you and Nicole aren't the only ones who exist ;)

    3. It could just be a function of the fact that our blog is new and not very many people know about it?

    4. I think there are a lot of e-book readers, but as we've already seen, not a lot of them blog. If they're not part of the romance blogging world, they don't know to vote.

    5. I suspect it's more a matter that ebook authors are generally comfortable online so they post more when the topic comes up.

    6. I should probably mention that most of those authors are Samhain authors and voted after I posted on the author loop and my blog, encouraging them to recommend books. There were only four posts and I wanted to see more books recommended so I shouted it around a bit. Clearly the readers ignored me, lolol.

    7. I also think authors obviously have more to gain from having their suggestion picked for review than readers do. Do I care if Jayne reviews book A as opposed to book B? Not particularly. But I'm sure both Author A and B would enjoy the free press from being picked.

    8. oh look posts!

      fucking blogger...

      KS: very true

Angie: LOL you make yourself since you decided to only be nice in public. hee

Jane: le gasp! Nah I think anyone who is anyone knows you are are ;)

alyssa: I was thinking along the lines of all those people on yahoo groups, where the heck are they! maili needs to get them on blogs ;).

bev: that is a good point

Angie: ignore, you? say it isn't so! So it is all your fault eh? LOL

Jay: LAZY and Apathy! That is the answer! Since those are generally my reasons for doing thing, uh not doing them, I should have thought of that. Once again you are the smartest!

I now have kyle's mom a bitch stuck in my head... This movie has warped my fragile lil mind.

Uh, you know, this one just begs a great zingy comeback but I wouldn't even know where to start . . . (VBEG)

    10. Hmm, I don't know that I was saying it was laziness or apathy that was keeping readers from suggesting title to the Jaynes. More like authors have more of a vested interest in doing so than readers do.

I guess for me, I don't see the point in recommending a book for review unless it's like a really bad book and I want to giggle along with everyone as Mrs. Giggles skewers it*. On the other hand, I'm not going to recommend someone read a book I know nothing about, just because I want to hear what they think about it.

But whatever. We already know I'm jaded.

*My exception for this would be if someone said they were looking for examples of the best of the best. Then I would consider making recommendations. And that's where the laziness would kick in ;)

    11. I'm a reader only, no interest or plan to write e-books or other books. I used to read a lot of e-books. When I first found Elloras Cave, I went crazy. But I've tapered off since then for a couple of reasons. First, I read on the computer at home, which has died. I can use the loaner laptop from work for a lot of stuff, but I'm not comfortable reading e-books on it. So the alternative is to download to disc and then print, which isn't very convenient. Second reason for the decline on my e-book reading is that I got tired of the Romantica/erotica. It just got boring and kind of repetitive. I couldn't seem to find any "mainstream" romance via e-book.

I do have a recommendation for the Ja(y)nes, I just haven't had a chance to post it.
