    Blog it or lose it?
great post at RtB by PBW

Although I am not sure if I agree or not. Alison Kent has a kick ass blog. Who are the authors that come to mind for you that have a blog that 'works'? Hell I just noticed I forgot to put back up my links to author blogs. So uh, guess I don't author blog hop all that much.

    1. I honestly don't read blogs of authors very much. I don't know that I want to hear what they have to say outside of their books. It can ruin the experience of the book itself because you start "hearing" the author instead of "hearing" the characters.

I think websites that tell you what is next, what books are related, and where you can buy them is about all an author needs. I haven't bought any books based on blogs.

    2. I'm not sure why people are always talking about daily blogging when people use—don't they?—some kind of blog reader or syndication or whatever you want to call it.

There's one blog I love to read and the guy posts about once every two months. But it shows up on Bloglines when he does.

As a reader, author blogs will bring a name to my attention, and I am more likely to try out a book, so that's what it's about. But I don't read Jenny Crusie's blog, just her books, and I don't necessarily read books by bloggers I read.

      So, dunno.

It is a way of getting your name out there, no doubt. I enjoy blogging, especially about books. So, it's fun for me. But there are others ways, I think. And a clear easy to navigate web site does seem important.

    5. I've probably got 20-30 books i bought last year because they were recommended by bloggers OR because they were written by bloggers =) For whatever that's worth.

    6. I buy books based on blogs all the time, or at least I thought I did, but now I can't think of any ...OHHhh sure! Sam Winston.

And if she'd get published, Linda Winfree (actually I've read a bit of her work and that's what I'd base my buy on).

    7. Almost all my books I have because of AAR or blogger. But mainly reader blog vs author blogs.

eek I still need to put my link back on the side bar!
