    Who knew...

PC Cast should have sent her email to the Avon Board not Smart Bitches.

    1. LOL Sybil.

She would have had much more sympathy over there. By the 10th comment I was laughing so hard I had to stop.

Quinn's ARC is up to $91? Yowsers!

    2. I couldn't make it past the first page because of all the syrup flowing. Really. (G)

Did you notice how they were all mostly saying that if they had an ARC they'd never, ever let it go? Er, does that sound like professional reviewers or a fan collectors?

'Cause it sure sounded like fan collectors to me and there's no way I'm going to believe a true fan collector wouldn't bid on an ARC by their favorite author if they ran across it so I'm not particularly buying the syrup either. ;)

    3. I liked Julia Quinn's honesty. She was flattered by the thought that someone would pay that much for a novel of hers.

You can't get a negative comment out of anyone on that board. The place is a diabetic's nightmare! They're so busy kissing up to the authors that they don't realize that they're talking out of their asses most of the time.

Some on that board are awesome and honest; unfortunately, it's been made apparent over the last few months that honesty isn't appreciated!

I wouldn't sell an ARC either. I keep everything...that's me! A regular pack rat. I even have a David Hasselhoff picture which I only kept because it's signed.

PC Cast probably regrets the day she wrote that e-mail, but definitely she should have gone to AVON if she had wanted emphathy from anyone.

I really really like Quinn's comment (did I say that already?). I like her honesty!!!

    4. Well as I have said before, I agree with Cast. But I think this was more the response she wanted than what she got ;).

    5. Well, as a poor, poor author (feeling sorry for me yet? lol) I don't like the selling of arcs unless it's for charity. Why? Boils down to the fact that I see no money from that sale, and since average royalties are 8-10% of the cover price of a book, that $.48 might have come in handy! Same thing with UBS sales, but if it gets someone into my books who might then buy my backlist at full price, it's all good.

Realistically, however, I realize this is part of the job. And on the other hand I WISH an arc of my book brought in the amount JQ's will! If I thought it would *I'd* be selling them on Ebay myself!

I hope this post made sense. And I hope you folks don't mind me posting.

    6. Of course you are welcome to post! hee you are welcome to send an ARC as well ;)

      hee

I don't like the selling of ARC's - period. Makes me feel like I am in bad company. So I have decided it isn't the reviewers doing it.

      Just cuz ;)
