Anytime you need a step by step spoiler guide to solve the intrigue in the book as well as another chapter, you have failed in the first rendering. It's something her editors or critique group should have caught. It would be one thing if it is just simple readers like myself who didn't get it but apparently the overwhelming response has been "I don't get it." I don't think that this will hurt her sales at all, but it is a misstep.

I'm with Jane, it's not a good sign when readers can't follow the subtlties of your book. I too am amazed it survived the editing process without someone scratching their head.
