What is the big deal about Secret Society Girl by Diana Peterfreund

Is this just the work of marketing? Cuz reading the reviews, blurbs and such I don't get it. Not to say it isn't going to be a good book, I have no clue. Is this her first book? Why the hardcover? What am I missing? What makes her the next big thing and why the excitement?

    1. I dont know but it doesn't appeal to me. one girl in a secret society only men belong too? A Yale book? Dunno. Seems dull and exclusive.

    2. Nicole took it on vacation so maybe she can tell us about it. I hadn't heard about it until I saw it on her blog.

    3. I've seen it a few other places as well...can't think where just at the moment. I don't know that it sounds all that interesting to me either, but I guess we'll see!

    4. I'm of the same mind Sybil, I've seen the marketing frenzy surrounding it, and it just doesn't sound like me cuppa. AngieW read it and liked it, so you might ask her.

I wouldn't read it, just cuz the blurb doesn't appeal to me. The hype just seals it's entry into my 'will probably never read' file.

    5. God I hate it when I use 'its' and 'it's' wrongly. Godammit!

    6. Ok, just checking, I thought it was just me.

    7. I think it *IS* just you, Sybil. Seems like the green-eyed monster abounds here on your blog. ;-)

    8. Didn't you get the memo jamie? ALL READERS are really wannabewriters.

Why else would they not like a book?

      Green-eyed monster? What? Where?
      Does he/she think you're a jealous writer?
