And I think RT is in Houston ;). So I would get to met Keishon!
Are you excited yet ;).
By sybil, at 8/05/2006 10:17:00 AM
I think you and Keishon should definitely come to RWA. And then you should stop by table so I can feel important. lol.
By Kathryn S, at 8/05/2006 11:03:00 AM
I'm tempted to go to RT only because I've never been - and frankly I want to watch the cover model train wreck. That said, RWA is GREAT for books and smoozing and gossip - so what's a girl to do? I really can't do both.
And I'm thinking of starting a letter writing campaign for HH. I mean, if there is no more HH where am I going to get my western fix?!?! And where would those authors go? Would they get folded into a line like HQN? Whine, whine, whine.....

Back to AVON? Are you serious? Gosh...I guess we'll be going back to the LORD OF SCOUNDREL slutty covers...oh, well. I don't know how I feel. She wrote LORD OF SCOUNDRELS while at Avon, so it might make much of a difference. All I know is that if she starts writing books about ruined virgins who start teaching at ladies' schools and then run into the man who "ruined" them at the school I AM DONE! Where did you hear this? Got a link?
By romancelover, at 8/05/2006 12:15:00 PM
This sounds frightening to me. If she writes about the virgin widow, I'll have to kill myself or Avon. One of us will have to go.

Kate of course you are important, even if you forgot about me for YEARS *g*
wendy yes you start a campaign! Who would we write to even confirm? hmmm shall dig tonight.
D, go check out All About Romance's RWA recap, the chase info is in the first on the list.
jane, I am really starting to wonder if you guys are right about Avon but I still liked Duke of Sin ;)

Wendy said: I'm tempted to go to RT only because I've never been - and frankly I want to watch the cover model train wreck.
EC here: I'm a writer, but I've never been to RT either(although I've planned it about as many times as I've planned to start my diet on Monday). What's with the cover model train wreck? What makes it one? I'm intrigued.

well....... It think you can imagine my reaction when I read about Loretta Chase and her return to Avon in the AAR article. And she wrote LOS for Avon years ago, before they became the publisher they are today. Let's just say I'm not doin' the happy dance. And I was equally dismayed at the thought of them cancelling the Historical line at Harlequin!!! Wendy's right! Where will we get out Westerns?????? Think of all the great authors they have! And another thing that bummed me out in the aricle is Cathy McDavid doesn't think she will write any more westerns since they don't sell. I read The Gate to Eden not long ago and really really liked it and was looking forward to more westerns by her *sigh*

Me again
I went to RT a few years ago and it was a blast even though I didn't know anyone. I can travel now and it would be around the time I'd be due for a vacation. Hmmmmmmm - wouldn't it be great! Something to look forward to - and you and Keishon and Wendy and anyone else.
By Kristie (J), at 8/05/2006 03:21:00 PM
Ok..I e-mailed Chase (see my blog) and she confirms everything AAR says. Gosh...I hope she doesn't change..I really don't see it happening, but talent deterioration is a disease that seems to run rampant over there (with exceptions...there are always exceptions).
By romancelover, at 8/05/2006 03:44:00 PM
I just got home. Work sucks in case anyone was wondering... I really need to find away to be gainfully unemployed.
D! Of course it is true! AAR would say if it was just a rumor... like the HH thing. Silly duckie.
Kristie even if I can't swing going 'to' RT I would go to Houston to meet up with you two ;). Would be a blast.
Hey EC! This tells a lil about the train wreck :)
By sybil, at 8/06/2006 03:01:00 AM
I would go to RWA but I think I might be drawn and quartered. I suppose I could go in disguise. ;)
