EBUZZ: Screwing with Perfect by Louisa Trent
When PERFECT isn't really good enough.

Kesley Richmond is stuck in an undergraduate time warp, stagnating in the same-old-same-old routine. On top of that, her total dedication to an emotionally draining career is leading to burnout. She needs more, something just for herself—like a personal life for instance. All her college friends have moved on, fallen in and out of love, married, divorced. Done something! Except her…

And her complacent downstairs neighbor, Andrew Chandler.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it—that's Drew's philosophy. His college apartment suits him fine, and his sex life is one score after another. Though his consulting business keeps him traveling, he has Kesley, a girl in a million, to come back to. He doesn't know what's set Kes off, why she wants to shake things up, why she's on this kick about moving on, changing stuff that doesn't need changing. He wants her status quo to stay right where it belongs—one flight up from him. But to keep his sweetheart happy, he'll do anything, anything at all, even... SCREWING WITH PERFECT.

This is a reissue of a book that was previously published by LSB. I don't think there have been changes but the one I have read was the LSB.

The Good: It seems to be friends to lovers review week. So I guess I like that theme ;). There are many common elements in this book but they have enough of a twist that they are different. Kesley is a virgin and tired of it. So of course when she decides to date some guy, she met in the a very sad way, she wants to be rid of that silly virginity.

Enter Drew, her BFF and a manwhore, who better to show her the ropes? Yes, all been done before. The thing is even though she loves him and he loves her neither really think this could be 'it' for them. She wants marriage and babies. He wants, well he wants his life just like it is right now - perfect. He loves his job, travels loads, fucks away from home (often) and has a great love in his friend where sex isn't involved to fuck it up. As sex does.... so once she says the S word, life goes completely out of wack for Drew.

I love a rake who falls and falls hard. I love how when her set timeline is up, she goes on with her business as planned. And I love it is the man doing the chasing.

The Bad: There is a lot here not to love as well. To be honest, I had the worst time trying to read, Courtesan. After reading the blurb for Screwing with Perfect (LOVE the title) and reminding myself I should never write an author off after one book, I read this. Louisa Trent does a lot of telling, right after showing

And the inner dialogue grows old, as does the almost sex. I hate almost sex. You know when your two character get to a point and something unexpected happens and poof, they almost had sex. This is ok once (sometimes), twice it gets annoying, and by the third time you throw the book. But whenever the author annoyed too much, she would do something to pull me back in.

There are some funky breaks in the story from chapter to chapter. Things would end and then where you would expect them to pick up, they didn't. So we miss out on some great reactions and get 'told' about things I could have just read about.

My biggest issue though is the time frame. 10 years... just seems like an awful lot of wasted time.

The Verdict: I think it comes down to I really loved the characters. Drew and Kesley are people I enjoyed meeting and had a friendship I could believe that developed into a relationship I wanted to work.

I would recommend the book just to read the scene when Drew returns home. Of course I could see many people hating it. But it amused the hell out of me.

EBUZZ: Her Wildest Dreams By Shiloh Walker
Timid and shy, in her wildest dreams, Allie never imagined Alex would look at her with anything more than friendship and maybe a little pity in his eyes.

One horrible night Allie is attacked and Alex comes rushing to her rescue. He wonders if he is really needed when he finds a little hellcat fighting off her attacker. Much later that night, Alex holds that little hellcat in his arms.

Months later, he runs into Allie again and he barely recognizes her. She's no longer the shy little wallflower she had once been.

Problem is... she doesn't seem to want to have anything to do with him. Allie's about to find out that Alex is the only man guaranteed to make her wildest dreams come true.

I have said it before, shiloh has hell of a lot of books. And the nifty thing is she writes a little of everything. hmmm well she needs to write some historicals...

The Good: I really enjoy Shiloh's contemporary voice. She can take some very common category like situations and sex them up, in a good way. And her characters have a very real feel to them. The reader enjoys the time spent getting to know them.

When Allie decides to change her life and herself, she works at it. No really, she doesn't just take off her glasses and put on a red dress and two days later becomes HAWT.

When she decides to change, she changes. Allie decides what she doesn't like about herself. Then amazingly enough she does something about it. Allie goes after what she wants to tries to create the happiness she knows she deserves. When Alex pulls his head out of his ass, he has to figure out how to lead, follow or get the fuck out of her way.

The Bad: The brother is an asshole. I hate that crap when it is ok to do whatever, to whoever but HEY not my sister. Cuz she is pure and crap... that could just be me.

The Verdict:Did I mention I like it when a rake falls hard?

Again this is a friends to lovers story, done well, with great characters. If you have only tried Shiloh's paranormals or haven't tired her because you don't read paranormals, I highly suggest trying this one out or Her Best Friends Lover

Lauren Dane, Megan Hart and Anya Bast aka Maverick Authors can be found causing trouble together OR on their own

    Scissors, Sparkles and Piston EBuzz

    ( Key: Lauren Dane=Scissors, Megan Hart=Sparkles, Anya Bast=Piston)

Piston- I really love how Adrianna Dane created a unique world in her novel, Eluria's Enforcer, complete with its own laws, customs and religion. I loved it so much that I wanted more of it. I wish this book had been about twice as long and had really delved into this planet and its peoples.

Scissors - I did really like the worldbuilding here. I love sci fi and futuristics and I don't see nearly enough of them in the romance world so I was thrilled to see that (the other) Dane had done it. I also felt like I wanted more. I looked her up though and she's got a second installment that comes after this one. I'd love to have seen her fleshed this out to at least twice the length it was! But she left me wanting more and that made me go to look and see if she had it, all very good signs.

Sparkles: One of the great things about a good SF story is the world building and use of different languages, history and cultures. I found a lot to enjoy in Eluria's Enforcer. Adrianna Dane obviously put a lot of thought into her world, including religion, politics and society. I had a little problem with the vocabulary sometimes, keeping all the new words straight, but overall really liked what she did with the story and weaving background in without overloading it all at once. And alien sex! Woo! Let me say that reading alien sex is ALWAYS interesting, but the physical make up of Eluria and Devon surely did leave an impression on me. It was familiar and yet
different enough to keep me reading.

Piston - The story is set mostly in a cave and the plot focuses on the resumption of a former romance between Devon and Eluria. After reading Eluria's Enforcer, I feel confident that Ms. Dane is completely capable of writing a substantial science fiction plot and wish there had been more of that. However, as an author I know you can't please everyone, and every reader brings different expectations to a book.

Scissors - I quite liked that she narrowed the focus to that cave. I thought it gave a depth and intensity to the storyline that it wouldn't have necessarily had if they'd been all over the place throughout, especially at this length.

Sparkles: I both agree and disagree. I think narrowing it to the cave worked for this story, but I'd have loved to read more about what was going on in the rest of the world. Sequel? :)

Piston - Perhaps this world will be more thoroughly explored in a sequel or two? I definitely scented a couple spin off characters in there. Perhaps Devon's brother Alekos and maybe even Kierra, Devon's sister. On a final note, the only quibble I had with the worldbuilding were the foreign words Dane uses for sexual organs and sexual slang. I find these distance the reader from the eroticism. So, in my opinion, the book could have been a little hotter.

Scissors - this is the kind of thing that bugs me in all sci fi/fantasy books. I understand that it's a different world and they'd use different words and all, but at some points it got to be too much and I had to stop to look back or remember what it is she was referring to. A little of this convention goes a long way, IMO.

Sparkles: I didn't mind the vocabulary referring to body parts. Those I kept straight. LOL! The ones I had problems with were the names of the rocks and minerals, and stuff in the cave though to be honest, had they been the "real" words I wouldn't have done any better keeping them straight.

Piston - The writing was clear and the plot was well structured, I just wanted more of it. That said, I found this to be an engaging and enjoyable story and I'd definitely read any sequels that Dane releases.

Scissors - While I wouldn't call Eluria's Enforcer an "erotic" romance, it was a very readable and enjoyable romance. I did like the chemistry between the H/H and I thought both were likeable and three dimensional characters. I truly enjoyed Eluria's Enforcer and I'll be checking out the sequel to continue on in this world Adrianna Dane had created.

Sparkles: I liked the sex. It was well thought out and in keeping with the world. I must admit to a personal "squick" about all things anal, but hey, everyone's got their own thing. I thought how she created a new reproductive system was well thought out and worked in the story. As for it being erotic, I will say I found myself fascinated by the actual goings on more than turned on by them, but that's coming from a writer's viewpoint and not a reader's. I was saying things like "cool!" and "ooh, how neat!" I really liked the effort she put into the s/f aspect of the story. It left me satisfied on many levels. Great job!

Thanks for the buzz guys! Always nice to hear of a new author to try. Eluria's Enforcer can be purchase here.

And the fearsome threesome have a nice size back list, well if size matters I think Hart is the biggest. I highly recommend Playing the Game by Megan Hart, Triad by Lauren Dane and Winter Pleasures: The Training by Anya Bast.

EBUZZ: Seducing Simon by Maya Banks
One fateful night, Toni Langston seduces her best friend, the guy she’s been in love with forever. Two problems-he doesn'’t remember a thing that happened and now she's pregnant.

Toni Langston has been in love with Simon, her best friend, for years. The night Simon breaks up with his long time girlfriend, he and Toni make love. Toni is devastated and humiliated when, in the heat of the moment, he calls her by his girlfriend'’s name. The next morning, Simon remembers nothing of the previous night and Toni is only too relieved not to remind him.

Two months later, she discovers she'’s pregnant. She wants Simon to love her, apart from any obligation he might feel because of the baby. So she embarks on a quest to seduce her best friend, to make him see her as more than a little sister, to make him love her as much as she loves him. It works. Maybe too well. Now when things are perfect, she faces telling him of the secret she'’s kept.

1st line: The living room erupted in cheers as the wide receiver ran into the end zone.

I really, really, really think authors should save their money and stop making trailers.

The Good: I didn't plan to read this right away mainly because I had so many book in front of it on mount tbr. But I opened it for a peak and was sucked in. Seducing Simon is a fast, enjoyable read with my fave friends to lovers theme.

The secret baby plot is no where near a new theme and I think is very catergory. Which may be why Seducing Simon has category vibe to it. The h/h are great and the secondary characters generally add to the story instead of weigh it down. I love how the guys interact with each other and Toni. They have a very believable friendship.

The Bad: A big WTF moment for me is the way Toni spills her guts to 'the other guy'. He is a firefighter, working with her brother and roomates. So he seems like a really bad choice of people to open up too. And whole 'how to drive a man wild' coaching is silly. It all seemed so harlequin.

The morning after, Simon so should have known he had a woman in his bed the night before. Drunk or not, the lack of condom and lack of clean up should have tipped the boy off. And for such good friends, there is a serious lack of communication. But hey if they were honest from the get go there would be no story.

Things do get malodramtic. The 'other woman' had me rolling my eyes. And there are a few scenes at the end that would make Diana Palmer proud.

The Verdict: The plot is tried and true, if not a touch over used but the characters make this a worth the read. And the over the top moments don't last long enough to kill the story. Of course I say that being a fan of Palmers *g*.

At a time when NY publishers are gunning for the hotter the better, Samhain is doing a great job of delivering romance, not just erotic romance.

The Good: Interesting set up with the two 'straight' cops falling in love. Could have made for a great story. I really liked the way the Anderson ended the story. Very nicely done. And really you can't help but adore Sean. Bam liked this way more than I did.

The Bad: It is possible I have been in too many gay bars or in the hospitality industry too long but there is no way in the world I could buy Sean O'Brian as a straight man.

And that is all well and good but the plot is two straight men falling in lurve. Like I said, very cool idea. I like the idea of a person falling in love with a person not a sex. But Sean was just so gay. He spends the whole book calling Nicholas 'babe'. I can't think of any straight man I have ever heard call another man babe (or any other such term). Is that just me? There are some people that are touchy feely types but Sean seems to go over that line. Which makes all of Nicholas oh-woe-is-me-angst seem over the top.

Who in their right mind would think a person, same sex or not, would perform oral sex on them to make them feel better? I love my friends but I think licking them might go above and beyond the call of friendship, maybe I am just a bad friend. Since there was no witness to the act of suckage I can't figure out how the reader was suppose to buy that for anything other than it was. And to be honest I have read too much fanfic with the "omg we must fuck in front of teh bad guys in order to live" plot. So the whole thing was too difficult to take seriously.

The Verdict: I would rec Planet X over The Assignment if you want to try Evangeline Anderson.

Next I would like to try The Last Man on Earth but I don't have it so Dangerous Cravings will prolly be next.

The Good:The cover fucking rocks. The two main character can be pretty likeable and the plot is good. Or maybe I have a thing for work relationships... uh anyway. Exprofootball player turn bar owner develops thing for waitress while current profootball player brother goes to the big game.

The Bad:Everytime the story caught my attention and MADE me want to know more, a character did something fucking stupid.

    The Verdict:
I go back and forth thinking this hits the mark with men not sounding like men. They are football players! Cutie football players! Money! Women! Drink! Song! Drugs! Women! rinse repeat... but they seem rather wimpy. At the same time my own personal short experience with a newly exprofootball player leaves me with memories of a very insecure man and he wasn't recovering from a painkiller addiction (uh at least I don't think so). So I could have over looked that but the heroine had too many TSTL moments.

And I didn't get the jealous of the bro thing... I mean I could understand it if there was a history to it or they weren't close. But good god they are close buds and friends so it didn't make sense. Throw in the fact I can't see any woman forgiving how he treats her after their first night together, at least not that quickly, the book annoyed more than it amused.

EBUZZ: Detour by Sahara Kelly and S L Carpenter
click for summary of Detour By Sahara Kelly and S L Carpenter
When Lissa Henderson turns her back on traditional values and a stifling life of conformity, the last thing she needs is to break down on a lonely road in the middle of a storm. Finding herself is supposed to be an adventure, not a pain in the ass. Fortunately there's a guy drinking coffee alone in the almost-deserted diner not far away.

Steve Mitchell is doing his own adventuring, after a bitter divorce shreds his emotions and sends him off with just his truck and his camper. He's not looking for anything except a relaxing break from his chaotic life.

Then Lissa walks into the diner.

It doesn't take more than a conversation to show them they both want the same think... no entanglements, no commitments, just a good time-and a helluva lot of sex. But life doesn't always go the way it's planned. Sometimes it takes a little detour...

    read me for review

As with any romance novel that says no entanglements or commitments that doesn't really last long. But they of course try. Lissa is out to be all she can be and become the woman she always was 'deep inside' but her family wouldn't let her be. This would be sad and stupid for her to be living this way as old as she is but we start the story with her trying to live her life for her.

And she decides to fuck her way across three states while on her way to a new job. Not that she is a slut mind you. And Steve is a not going to settle down type man because women are evol, woe is he, his wife done did him wrong. This would annoy more but it just happened so screaming get the hell over it isn't really fair. So pretty much the Jane Meter would be way low on this book. Do not pass go, do not collect $200.

Saying that... and I am sure you saw this coming *g*. The book is entertaining in parts and a pretty good blend of a male and female voice. It is stupid in parts as well and has a scene in a Sex Toy shop that just makes me cringe.

There is a warning: Note: Contains brief male/male and female/female sexual interaction. In a way you could see the scene as a way to stretch the limits and be a hawt EC book or a cop out to keep the h/h faithful while still doing the group thang. I didn't find the scenes offensive at all, yes shocking, but they didn't really add anything to the story. And really

I would rate it about a C-. Again I have to say, Carpenter has a great voice and is too fucking funny at times. I want to like his writing. Not sure why yet but I plan on trying more of his novels. Sahara Kelly I do like but would rec For Research Purposes Only if you wanted to give her a try.

    Summary:
Whoever said accountants were boring, had never met Jordan Hall. Tall, dark and handsome, his determined, relentless nature isn't confined to his professional life, as Roxanne Isley is finding out. The man is sexy as sin. Saying no just isn't an option.

But as one of the most successful investment brokers in the country, Jordan has a reputation to uphold and his client'’s investments to protect. So when money starts disappearing from client accounts and Roxanne finds herself a prime suspect, it is not a good time to start a torrid affair with her delicious boss.

Jordan Hall knows he has finally found the woman of his dreams. She's a wild spitfire and taming her will be more fun than he can anticipate. But falling for her couldn't have happened at a worse time.

With the race on to find a thief, and protect his business and his name from public scandal, Jordan knows that the one person he can trust is Roxanne.

But when theft turns to kidnapping and Roxanne is snatched from under his nose, Jordan knows he will do anything to get his woman back.
For the most part I really liked this novel. But the big drawback, and it was huge, is Jordan's mistrust of Roxanne goes on way way too long.

Jordan is an alphaalphaman with daddy done wrong issues but is hawt and I liked him except for that BIG thing. Roxanne, if I recall correctly doesn't have the V issue that Jane loves to hate. The story is a good RS wrapped up in an erotic romance.

The end is somewhat over the top and comes from out of now where, even though the 'thief' from the office seemed to be easy to figure out from the get go. Over all a good read. Try it you might like it. Excerpt found in link above...

Well Blake does admit he wants to keep fucking his way through his 20's so a good girl just wouldn't do at the time. And as annoying as I find the I love you so much I must leave you to screw many other women senseless so I can later realize my TUW LURVE for you, the story was fun. The sex is steamy and really the over all feel of the story is entertaining and can't be taken too seriously.

Really they talk about her dancing the pole, which of course she does to save money and buy herself a business. Being one who has seen too many people make money faster than they can drink it by stripping, then walk away with NOTHING. I find the concept hard to swallow but one I have always thought possible.

What can I say, I want to believe. If you are looking for a well grounded and deep thinking contemporary romantica, not the story to go for. But if you just want to shake your grove thang this fits the bill. I do have to say Cocktail preomgIhavelostmyfuckingmindtom, is one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies. So that could explain my amusement.

Brian: I am the last barman poet
I see America drinking the fabulous cocktails I make
Americans getting stinky on something I stir or shake
    The sex on the beach
    The schnapps made from peach
    The velvet hammer
    The alabama slammer.
I make things with juice and froth
The pink squirrel, The 3-toed sloth.
I make drinks so sweat and snazzy
    The iced tea, The kamakazi
    The orgasm, The death spasm
    The Singapore sling, The dingaling.
America you've just been devoted to every flavor I got
But if you want to got loaded
Why don't you just order a shot?

I think this gets a nod for worst title evah... and yes I do sometimes wonder about the things I read...

    Virgin Seeks Bad-Ass Boy
Alice Sutherland is tired of being a virgin. At twenty-four, she wants to experience wild and passionate sex. And she wants a real bad boy between her legs, preferably one with a heart deep down.

Caleb Sawyer doesn't know how to react when his sexy neighbor confesses that she wants him to de-virgin her. He's shocked. He's also intrigued. But he's not sure Ali has any idea what sex with him entails. Caleb is used to no-holds-barred, dirty, sweaty, try anything sex.

Alice is not naive, just inexperienced. What Caleb doesn't know is that she has seen him in action... and he's her man. Oh, is he ever. The answer to all her needs, her deepest desires, her darkest fantasies. What starts as one weekend of raw passion, soon surpasses anything that either of them ever expected.

Oh she may not be naive but boy oh boy does she have crappy dialogue. LOOK and his is just as bad... I think this is proof that some 'free' stories should stay free and not be pulled and 'expanded' to be sold. I would pass and try something else of Ruth D. Kerce or go check out her site for the still free stories. Quick before they are sold!

Lauren has loved Dale for five years, from the moment she saw him. She loves his smile, his walk, his deep, sexy voice. But he isn't in love with her. She's his pal, his confidant. Until one hot, steamy night...

I am a sucker for a friends to lovers story. I like this. It isn't an out there steamy bdsm bard wolfmating Ellora's Cave read but a nice contemporary. This was a treat.

Not perfect mind you, I couldn't understand why it took him so long cuz DUDE WAKE UP. And really I can't believe she didn't tell him, oh right away. But you know... need conflict and all.

A Muse Me by S.L. Carpenter

He lost his inspiration but found his muse in the Caribbean in the arms of a woman.

It's a slow death for a writer when the only key getting used on his keyboard is "Delete". His writer's block is firmly in place like a wall. All there is to do is bang his head against it.

What to do? A change of scenery might help - say a week in the tropics. If nothing else, it will warm his idle fingers and ease his worried mind. A getaway for the mind and soul.

Reservations made, Eugene flies to Aruba in search of answers to his problems. What he finds is more than a couple of fruit drinks with umbrellas in them. On the white sandy beaches, wrapped in almost nothing but a tan is someone who sparks his imagination and ignites his creative flow. He finds his Muse!

    excerpt here
Carpenter has some great one-liners and fun, could happen dialogue. Love the plot and the characters are good but the whole story didn't mesh together as well as it could have. The style is choppy, POV switches in odd places and the story slow to start. And it can get very repetitive and could use some tightening up. There are quite a few places he says the same thing over and over when you get the point the in the first sentence.

But the writing it very amusing (pun intended) and the read is worth it for the one liners alone, of course I am a sarcastic lil bitch so you know what sandbox my idea of humor plays in. And you can tell this is written by a man, a man who wants you to know the story is by a man. At least it seems that way... It almost goes too far trying to make the point that romance novels tend to write men more flowery than they are by making Eugene a 'real' man.

Nice idea but really are romance hero's suppose to be real men? What do you guys think? And yes, romance novels must have a happy ever after! I did like how the story ends, very creative and 'keeps with the rules' while Eugene breaks 'em. But I wouldn't haven't read 'Eugene's book *g*. Jane, I would love your take on this story if you get a chance to read it!

I would rate it a D but would rec it for the funny. Well that and the elevator sex. Love to hear from other readers... did you like it? Do you agree? Disagree? Have other rec's from this author?

Hunter's Pride ended up being my first read. It is set in the hunter's world but is noted to be a stand alone story. You can read an excerpt here.

    click for summary
A woman determined to find answers, a man sworn to keep secrets.

She was a child when it happened, an innocent brutalized by a man who was meant to protect her. When Kennedy ran, he came after her with every intention to kill—only to find himself face to face with creatures no rational human could explain.

Now, fifteen years later, Kennedy has returned to Pride Mountain, intent of finding out more about the creatures that saved her. Are they animals? Or something more…

Duncan Pride remembers Kennedy. But the woman he sees is nothing like that terrified child he saved. But he can't let her learn the truth of Pride Mountain. He doesn't count on her stubbornness, or her courage. He also doesn't plan on falling in love with the willful, beautiful woman.

He can't let that get in the way-his Pride is counting on him.

It is an average read, nothing grand but nothing really bad either. The story starts out with a very heavy handed subject and doesn't let it weigh the story down. That can happen when an author tackles an issue that really can't be explored, solved, or put to rest in the space of a novella. But the past isn't our point but more of a jumping place for how and why Duncan and Kennedy meet.

Good read, nice intro into Shilohreadingworld and inexpensive if you are just stepping your toes into the ebook world. My biggest issue was the evol guy was oh so evol and the big show down was rather over the top. But it is a paranormal, they are suppose to be larger than life. And it is rather creepy when all the aliens gather in the backyard to watch scully's baby being born comfort/guard Kennedy during the big show down. But all in all I would give it a C.

Love to hear what you guys think if you have read it, read other Shiloh Walker stories or have recs!

EBUZZ: Playing the Game by Megan Hart

This was one of my first Amber Quill books and EEK their covers can suck. But that aside, Megan Hart gives us a pretty entertaining and quick read. This is a friends to lovers story with a history built in, my favorite type. The characters are believable, the game fun and sex is hot. Or maybe it I liked it because I have been in this type of bar. And it is a fun setting.

    Summary from site:
It began as a lighthearted competition between two friends. Ten points for correctly predicting which lame come-on the next person will use to hit on you. Fifteen points for getting asked for your phone number. Twenty for being bought a drink. Get someone to ask you to go home with them, and you ha’ve won The Game. Now Josie's tired of watching beautiful women throw themselves at the one man who has always been there for her, and even winning has become losing if it means the man who takes her home from the bar isn'’t Jack. She knows how to get other men to fall at her feet, but will the same moves work on her best friend? In love and lust, it's all about Playing The Game...
The story appealed to my exbarhoppingself. And was well written and doesn't take itself too seriously. Yes you still have your biggest cock evah exmanwhore but nothing is better than the tamed beast.

I need to pick up Opening the Door and White Wedding the two novellas that follow this tale and I think finish up the story of Jack and Josie.

    Wish List by Sylvia Day

Wish List was apart of EC's White Hot Holiday quickies. Just in case the title didn't give it away, it is a Christmas story.

    summary:
When Nicholas James draws Stephanie Martin's name in their law firm's Secret Santa exchange he knows he's in for a merry Christmas, if he can figure out what to give the woman he's wanted for months. When he works late and finds a crumpled piece of paper listing Steph's personal wish list, he knows he is in luck. Because all Steph wants for Christmas is him, in a number of naughty ways.

And not-so saintly Nick is going to make every one of her carnal wishes come true.

    Read ME
I am going to be completely honest and say, Steph was pretty damn dumb for writing such a thing down - at work - during a meeting - and then throwing it away without tearing it up into lil bitty pieces - or eating the list.

But hey, in this case Santa is very good to her for being dumb. I do have to say I am a touch paranoid as well so, the whole never evah write anything down that has very a 5% chance of ever being found, could just be me.

Then you have the part where, for a lawyer, Nicholas James, is leaving himself open for a HUGE sexual harrasment case. hee but hey it works here... Wish List is a coworker to lovers story, which gives the reader a built in background. Think friends to lover with more of a chance of causing a headache later. But again... hey it works here *g*.

Nicholas is a good boyfriend but a serial one, you know the type that goes for monagomy. Just with different women, frequently, hell he is even still friends with most of his ex's. The issue with Steph is before the word ex's, he would have the word 'many'. Like any good ladies man, Nicholas has found 'the' woman and is ready to settle down into Happy Ever After. The problem is he needs to figure that out, and then convence Steph of it.

And that is our story. Short, sweet, holiday fun... with a bow around the cock and steam on top. Great story! And fun read, no matter the time of year. Nothing like Christmas in April!

ho ho ho ;) If you have read it, do tell us if you enjoyed it. And if you read it, let us know if it worked for you! What are your favorite Christmas E-tales?

EBUZZ: The Fifth Favor by Shelby Reed

The Fifth Favor by Shelby Reed was recommend to me by the oh so fab karens and it really is a good read.

    summary from site:
Imagine a world where a woman's every pleasure, every wish and wildest fantasy is granted by the man of her dreams. Such is Avalon, an elite, private club in Washington, D.C., that caters solely to female desires. There, magazine reporter Billie Cort meets Adrian, the club's most infamous companion, with the intent to interview him for an article on high-dollar male escorts. Billie can't foresee, however, how quickly Adrian will strip her defenses and expose her true desires…and in the process, fulfill his own yearning for love.
Yes this goes back to my curiosity with sex workers and my love of the novel Fallen from Grace by Laura Leone.

Billie and Adrian both read like real people, with what could be real lives, while trying to make the best of the cards they were dealt. I don't think this has the emotional punch of FfG and there are quite a few points that are the same in both books but there are enough differences that I didn't start to compare the two until after I was finished reading TFF.

Reed has an great voice and handles a difficult and oddish romance plot well. This is a great introduction to her and I look forward to reading more of her work.

EBUZZ: Lonesome Bride by Megan Hart

Did not finish... beware spoilers ahead

    review
Lonesome Bride is more of a historical novel than erotic romance. And it so didn't work for me, in fact I couldn't finish it. And that was too bad because the story had a great setup.
Mail-order bride Caitleen O'’Neal assumes the man who arrives at the train station to pick her up is the man she'’s agreed to marry. After all, he introduces himself as Jed Peters, the name on the papers the preacher gave her to sign. When a night of unexpected lovemaking turns Jed surly instead of sappy, Caite can'’t understand why. Only when they finally reach the ranch in Lonesome, Montana, does Caite discover the reason for her lover's cold shoulder. He'’s Jed Peters, all right. Jed Junior, and the white-haired man standing next to the woman he'’s just wed is Jed's father...the man Caite has come all the way from Pennsylvania to marry...
It is annoying that Jed is pissy with Caitleen for fucking him, when he could have NOT screwed her. But hey typical alphaasshat to be redeemed later hero.

But Caitleen is why the term TSTL was created. I tried to keep going and push on after each stupid move she made. But the kicker was when she decided to become a school teacher, arrived in town with Jed, shared a room with him, followed him into a SALOON, played poker with him and 'the boys', got falling down drunk, loudly went back to that one room with him, screwed him and THEN was surprised that the whole town knew and the head school teacher treated her like the slut she was behaving like. I don't care she was a virgin and only gave herself to Jeb. This is the old west, woman did not play poker in saloons and get fucking drunk unless they were whores in the saloon to turn a trick or two. This isn't news. The fact she did it wasn't the biggest eyeroll moment as was her shock women were cutting her.

And to keep moaning and whining afterward about her rep and STILL turn down Jeb's marriage offer was too much. As was the whole, climb out the window, be stupid and ride a horse out of town ALONE. I just couldn't make myself care anymore at that point.

Did not finish... do tell if you did and what you thought of it. Although I can't see it getting better.

    EBUZZ: Ebooks Rock take two

ETS: With orders from Maili and Nic I will try and blog about these books this weekend. Depends on my schedule. Most of these I have read and there are more I will even put a break in my linda howard glom to do it! Which if a certain author would email me a certain book I have been whining about, I can add that to. hee

And I have a great book to read from a contest that must be blogged about now. So I will just be ebook central. (yes I fear the power of maili and nic who has a great post up you should read.)

So from now on, because maili knows my password and shit :) I shall post at least two ebook rec's a week! [it could happen] Really need to do that tag things. ok my drugged self must go to sleep. When all else fails take ambien, to sleep not read, which means I could so not recall posting this in the morning.

As do their publishers. Well I can't speak to them all, yet. But two of them I lurve muchly right now.
BC (before crash) I bought The Boy Next Door by Nicole Austin.

It sounded like great fun. And I had to have it.

Even though I have tons of Ellora's Cavebooks. I have some read to blog about, some I want to talk about, tons to read and tons I want.

Fine! I have no impulse control.

But then it gets worse better... because while debating about buying TBND, I go check out Samhain.

Yep... a site that has tons of books coming out I want to talk about, tons I have I want to talk about.
Not even counting the ones I have TO BE READ.

    See where this is going?

So I buy Hunters Pride by Shiloh Walker. And then the great CRASH of 2006 happens. An even better crash than the one of 2005 because I lost EVERYTHING that wasn't in my gmail account. Now I have this fear of ebooks, it is true. I worry my computer will crash and I will lose them.

    ::pause for irony::

So I try to send all ebooks to my gmail account. You can access anywhere. The storage is HUGE. And it is free. Win, Win, Win. Yeah... so these stories I hadn't had a chance to email to myself. Hadn't read them either. So alas they were lost to me.

So I send off an email (using the receipt email from the purchase) to Ellora's Cave and Samhain. I am very happy to report they both emailed me back this morning and I now have copies of my stories again.

No trouble, no begging and they were both great about it, sort of makes a person want to buy more ebooks ;).
